JOB PURPOSE : To manage a medium-sized logistics center to ensure efficient, high degree of client satisfaction and timely processing and distribution of parts for Logistics Division clients. Client refers to Product Support Division, Caterpillar Dealers, Caterpillar Logistics businesses, Caterpillar Inc. Manufacturing facilities, Caterpillar Subsidiaries or Caterpillar Suppliers.

JOB DUTIES : Direct reports typically include Assistant Manager, HR Manager, Operations Support Staff, Office Supervisor, and Administrative Office Assistant. This position is primarily responsible for meeting client needs, managing client relationships, and achieving profitability objectives for the various client accounts while providing leadership focused on a positive work culture.
Incumbent manages operations to ensure client service levels and financial targets (costs, budgets, variable margin and before-tax profit) are achieved. This position is responsible for distribution operation processes which include but are not limited to receiving, storage, kitting, sub-assembly, order filling, packing, shipping, quality control, inspection, inventory counts, supplier scheduling, returns and related functions to provide shipping and receiving accuracy and inventory reconciliation and makes warranty decisions on defective material relating to the percentage of usability remaining. When applicable, is also responsible for packaging operations and literature distribution. May deliver material to client's point of use and may service and maintain racks and areas at client sites.
Works with management team to develop/review operational procedures and quality plans to ensure the operation complies with local government requirements. Develops and implements operations changes to reduce costs and/or improve efficiency. Provides direction and guidance for continuous quality improvements, develops and implements operation changes to reduce costs and/or improve efficiency utilizing 6 Sigma methodology and resources.
Responsible for all employee related activities of the facility. Works with HR manager, when appropriate, to recruit, select, develop and train staff. Prepares SMART goal objectives. If operating in a union facility, partners with HR manager to participate in labor contract negotiations and administer that agreement with the hourly workforce. If non-Union facility, works closely with HR Assistant, Corporate HR to advance positive management initiatives. Promotes/supports day-to-day operational and safety issues with support of management team. Works closely with management team to determine methods to monitor the facility for security, maintain the property and provide janitorial service. Purchases and maintains equipment and vehicles and purchases office and storeroom supplies.
Develops and manages within the annual Business Plan to meet client needs and satisfaction, ensuring contractual performance standards are met and financial targets including Sales, Profit, Availability and ROA are achieved. Builds a relationship with the client(s) and the community. Responsible for becoming a strategic business partner and growing/developing his/her facility in line with Logistics Division strategies/vision. Supports Class A initiatives and performance at Class A levels, where appropriate
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE : Requires a university degree or equivalent experience and a broad background in all aspects of warehouse operations with previous warehouse management or supervisory experience desirable. Depending on facility type, may require assembly, manufacturing and/or planning experience. Has good human relations and communications (oral and written) skills, and makes independent decisions with very little direct supervision. Knowledge and willingness to learn Positive Management Initiatives (PMI) and prevailing government requirements and local customs and practices is desirable. Typically requires 5 - 10 years of logistics' or other relevant experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
