Summary:
As a Yard Attendant your primary responsibility is to efficiently manage the intake, sorting, and organization of donated items in a thrift store setting.
You will play a crucial role in maintaining a well-organized and appealing merchandise display, ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for contributing to the success of a thrift store's mission.
Responsibilities:
Donation Intake:
Greet and assist donors as they drop off items, providing excellent customer service.
Accept, inspect, and document incoming donations, ensuring they meet the store's guidelines and quality standards.
Provide donors with receipts and express gratitude for their contributions.
Sorting and Categorizing:
Sort and categorize donated items based on type, condition, and quality.
Evaluate items for cleanliness, functionality, and suitability for resale.
Determine pricing or assign value to items in collaboration with pricing guidelines.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other team members, including sales staff, to communicate inventory updates and collaborate on effective merchandising strategies.
Assist in training and guiding volunteers who may be involved in donation processing.
Customer Interaction:
Assist customers in locating items within the store.
Provide information about the store's mission and how donations contribute to community initiatives.
Maintenance and Safety:
Perform regular checks for damaged or unsellable items and manage their proper disposal or recycling.
Adhere to safety guidelines and ensure a safe environment for both customers and staff.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in retail, thrift stores, or a similar environment is preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical ability to lift and move items, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks related to donation processing.
