Serve as a Patient Referral Care (PRC) Clerk for the Elko Service Unit in Elko, Nevada.

Determines patient eligibility for care under the Patient Referred Care (PRC) Program, formerly Contract Health Services.
Interviews patient(s) and/or family members for potential and current eligibility for alternate resources.
Receives notification by phone, fax, or in person and collected necessary information to make a decision to approve or deny payment.
Coordinates and obtains prior authorizations from Primary Payers, Insurances, Medicaid and Medicare for PRC eligible patients.
Use a variety of automated patient data and/or health information systems such as Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS), Referred Care Information System (RCIS), and Electronic Health Record (EHR).

1. TYPING PROFICIENCY: All applicants must show possession of the ability to type 40 words per minute (wpm). Applicants may meet this requirement by self-certifying their typing proficiency on their application when answering the online questionnaire. 2. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE GS-06 LEVEL: Applicants must meet the following requirement to be considered at this level:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level performing administrative services in a medical and/or clinical facility to ensure smooth operation of daily activities. Examples of qualifying work experience may include:
Interview patients and give instructions to patients in completing demographic and health insurance forms.
Review and verify patient's eligibility for health insurance such as Medicaid, Medicare, and private or commercial insurance.
Practical knowledge of medical terminology to complete medical reports and/or to relay information to members of the health staff.
Skill in using computers and computer software to enter patient and/or health data. Experience with RPMS, RCIS or EHR is highly desirable.
Conditions of Employment
Immunization against Measles and Rubella required; influenza vaccine is recommended.
1-year probationary period for initial appointment to Federal service; 2-years for ESEP candidates.
Must have a viable bank account for electronic deposit of salary payment.
May work alternative work schedule to provide continuity of service.
May drive U.S. Government vehicle and must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
Time-in-Grade Requirement: Federal employees must have completed at least one year of service in a position no more than one grade lower (GS-05) than the position to be filled.
Security Clearance: If you are selected for this vacancy, you must undergo a fingerprint check. Fingerprint results must be cleared prior to hire. You will receive instructions on how to obtain and submit fingerprints.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
